Baldwin's lawyers are going to try to put all the blame on the prop person.
I will not doubt his dirty lawyer will try. But Alec is a grown asshole adult, and is responsible for his actions.
How hard would it be to rack your own blank and fucking just look at what is in there. Everyone on set makes a big deal out of it, why not just take the two seconds it takes to look.
Not only is it not difficult, it's standard practice to ALWAYS check a weapon that's been handed to you. NEVER take anyone's word that a gun is safe, check for yourself as you are responsible for the weapon, not the person who handed it to you.
That's how it is for normal people but if you're Alec Baldwin you're gonna get a pass.
