Let's let one single country control almost all of the world's production of critical raw materials and components. While we're at it, let's let it be a communist country. The fact that every communist economy ever devised fails eventually should be of no concern. What are the potential downsides?
The whole car shortage thing is overblown. As is everything for the agenda. They could easily roll back with less microcontroller integration. The primary ones are for the engine. Shockingly, the vehicle really doesn't need to talk to every lightbulb. Nor does it require an LCD display entertainment center. Nor does it require keyless entry. So on and so on.
Yes they would charge less, but selling and profit on volume far outpaces not selling and watching your inventory rot on lots, waiting for components they don't actually need.
They can't just flip a switch and make the cars without those displays and chips. They have to redesign systems. That takes years.

I know a guy who makes a damned good living recycling catalytic converters from cars. Just catalytic converters. You could spend the rest of your life mining junked cars and not even come close to going through them all.
I also know a meth head with a battery powered sawzall that "recycles" catalytic converters and uses them to pay for his habit and rent.
