I suspect if a bad car came out, like say another Pinto, mechanics and auto workers would know more about that than you, and would know sooner, being closer to the problem, more privy to the gossip, and generally more knowledgeable in the field. Same with healthcare workers, doctors, and whitecoats in general, as regards to bad vaccines...for the same exact reasons.
