I'm okay with this use of a John Doe warrant. The odds that you innkcently looked up a kidnapped girl just before she was kidnapped seems pretty freaking slim. In fact, there are a number of Joh Doe search term warrants that I could think of that would also cast a very small net guaranteed to catch bad guys. For example, those searching up shorting airline stocks the day before 9/11.
