Sounds a lot like society in general. This particular Church is obviously bad, apparently it had 2000 different pedo priests. Which is pretty amazing. How did they all meet each other and find out about this Church? Were they there because they were religious or were they there because they were raping kids? Maybe a society that ferments mental illness is partly to blame, where pedos don't even need to hide, where kids are dressed up like whores and paraded around in the street. The push to have the Catholic Church (which isn't something I particularly want to defend) labelled as a bunch of pedos has been long ongoing. I don't think the number of pedos in the Catholic Church outweighs the number of pedos there are generally in society. In fact I don't think it's even close.
