One of the companies, Socialnet, in the article has Voat listed as one of the sites from which it gleaned information. It's not a huge stretch of the imagination to figure they pull information from Poal too.

So they can get your IP address even though the supreme court has ruled that an IP address is not enough to identify you. Furthermore, a site where everyone fucking lies to entrap others(ie honeypot) can hardly be used as proof of anything.
