Some websites from as recent as last year call it "Whitman"...

This is the scariest mandela effect I've ever experienced because I know for a FACT it used to be Whitman. Anyone else??

For all of my life that I've been aware of such bases it has been Whitman; named for a civil war General, if I remember correct. I'd sooner attribute it to data manipulation than time-line shift.

Of course evil whitey named a military base "Whiteman".

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

I'd sooner attribute it to data manipulation than time-line shift.

I would too, and did for a few hours today until I remembered something.... I have a 1979 encyclopedia, so I looked it up and found that it says "whiteman" with the E!! There are several "Whitman" articles I have found online from just a few years ago, but the antique encyclopedia is what is freaking me out

Clearly they're manipulating the very posts here, making up a story of someone looking in an encyclopedia.

That is certainly odd. Can you scan & post some pages?

Names after a MO boy kilt at Pearl Harbour. It has been Whiteman since at least the '60s when I polished the nose cones on the Minuteman missiles controlled from there. IIRC there were 150 silos scattered throughout surrounding counties, each of them surrounded by a security fence. Only the finest missile wax was applied to reduce drag. After a priest was imprisoned for breaking into a perimeter fence and sprinkling a site with holy water, all 150 silos were destroyed per a treaty, I believe SALT. He got out of prison years later. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whiteman_Air_Force_Base

Does anyone else remember it the way I do? Do I need to get to a hospital because I'm having a stroke??

I remember it as whitman airforce base too, even from movies/tv shows.

Right?!

But on the Missouri map and map index from my 1979 world book encyclopedia there is an "e" after whit... https://files.catbox.moe/p6st6j.jpg https://files.catbox.moe/qzcu7v.jpg

But it's not even listed in "air force bases" or under the "w" entries...
