I have a desk that is that. It's going to fall apart pretty soon, but I haven't been able to get a better desk to replace it.
Yeah half their shit is just a thin wood veneer on top of hexagonal cardboard. Absolute shite.
Some of it is actually made of solid MDF, which is still junk but it'll last a lot longer.
The newer MDF doesn't last as long. MDF is just sawdust glued in the form of a board and they use the cheapest version. Their designs are good, they just use crap materials to drive the price down. If I get a house, I'd make full wood versions of some of their products.
I bought an old desk from a company I worked for. It's ugly as sin but it's never going to fall apart.
This is the way. Buy a 50 year old piece of furniture that is made from solid wood. Better yet, a 75 year old piece of furniture. My best pieces are solid wood and they will outlast me. Why buy a new piece of particle board furniture every 3 years?
