My husband is currently on unpaid leave after his religious exemption was refused. Haven't found a competent lawyer willing to help but it's pretty outrageous how they said it's an "undue burden" considering his supervisor already said it's no problem at all for him to work from home like most of the other people in the office...
Did he try to repeal the refusal? By default, they’re going to refuse your exemption.
Yup, hence the unpaid administrative leave until he complies. It's a holding pattern. They won't "fire" him, but he won't get paid for the foreseeable future. :/
And just how long can you be placed on paid leave before they have to cut you loose or give in? Indefinitely?
The employer hoping you'll fold. The unpaid administrative leave is costing them, depending on the contract. Are holidays still paid? Vacation? Is employer still paying for benefits? 401k matching? Those things could be costing your employer a pretty penny while the employer receives no benefit.
