This wouldn't even replace 1 power plant's power output, and it would burn for days before it burns itself out. If the greenies have their way, one fire in a giant battery farm would burn for weeks or months.

yea batteries suck when they blow up. so does everything else.

i dont give a shit about "green energy" but EVs are coming whether you like it or not.

EVs are rich people's toy and they are pushing it to reduce the average people's mobility. More people need to fight regulations that kill gas cars, or you'll be riding the bus because you can't afford a Tesla (or when Tesla deems your car illegally repair and shut down the charger access.

they arent what anyone would call cheap, but a 1000 hp tesla model s will blow the doors off of a 500,000 dollar ferrari for fraction of the price. and we havent even seen what the next roadster will be capable of yet.

but until the average range is 500 miles per charge, and the average charging time is below 2 hours it will remain a novelty. my point is that day is coming, and its sooner than most people would think.

They blow the doors off a Ferrari in 0-60, because a Ferrari is more of an all around car. For comparing straight line speed, a Dodge Demon is probably a better comparison for the same price.

The day is definitely coming, but I don't think it's a good thing. Gas cars were made during times where companies aren't thinking as much about controlling the product post sale, so you can still do with your car however you want after you bought it (if you don't care about the warranty). But with a Tesla, it's like an iPhone, they can push a firmware update to slow down your car or lock out more battery capacity (in fact they used to sell a Model S P70 that's just a locked P90), or they can lock you out of their charging network (like if iPhone locked you out of the Apple app store). So I'm going to hold on to my old gas car for as long as I can, if they are really banning gas cars in 2050, at least don't let them push that date forward.
