Not just "met". It wasn't happenstance.

The sadistic guards subjected him to cruel and unusual punishment, which is a constitutional violation by housing him within the same cell as a man who raped his own sister. That was the crime.

The man even filed a complaint, which was ignored.

The guards did this. The warden allowed this. Therefore, the Warden should hypothetically be swinging from a goddamn lightpost for allowing the guards to commit these crimes.

There was nothing wrong with putting them both in the same cell, the only issue is that they charged the guy and he got more than a slap on the wrist.

That's what I was thinking, how they found a jury to convict this guy I don't know, his lawyer sucked.

Well, that's an interesting wrinkle on the situation. I tend to agree with your assessment.
