I feel really bad for this guy. He found a way live on his own terms, and they took that away from him. Even burned his cabin down so he can't go back. If what Lidstone is true it wasn't even done at the property owner's request, some judge just wanted him to submit.

people were standing up for him to buy the land and pay property taxes.

the response to burn his cabin is a fuck you to the people trying to help. the guy had already told the judge he was fine in prison if he can't live there.

NH state motto is live free or die

"Lidstone has claimed that years ago, the owner gave his word — but nothing in writing — allowing him to live there. But in the eyes of the current owner, he’s a squatter and needs to go." If it's not in writing and the land is under new ownership unfortunately he has no legal standing. He is lucky he was not charged with trespassing by the new owner. He needs to find somewhere else, and move on.

that guy has made local news in the past, that could possibly be dug up in some old paper

yep. if i could just pick a place, move in, and get going on my "off the grid" life, i would. if we all did what the sympathetic old fella did, we may as well join the left lunatic groups.

Lidstone is accused of squatting for 27 years in the cabin on private property in Canterbury.

Not that i wholly approve of the law, but it's kind of cute that the live free or die state doesn't have an adverse possession law.

“What they’re doing to him isn’t right for anybody, whether he’s my brother or anybody’s brother,” he said. “He’s 81 years old. Leave him alone.”

And that's the crux of it.

Seems to me he had a clear case of Adverse Possession.

Are there no squatters rights in the US? In both the UK and Ireland if you’ve been living somewhere 12 years you can claim squatters rights (can claim if less than 12 years too but will require supporting legal arguments) which basically means the land is yours. The landowner in this case had 27 years to act and failed to do. The law should be concerned with more than just title deeds.

In certain states there is. Squatters rights can take effect after a squatter receives mail to an address and you had to go to court to get them out and it wasn't always guaranteed. Illegals and near do wells used squatter rights so much that a lot of states abolished the law.

Globalists did this. Can't have anyone just pissing off on their own.
