Exactly why I can't be bothered to try and "own land," these days. You're literally just exchanging one landlord for another. At least in the cast of renting, you have someone who cares to keep you happy enough to pay them on-time, every month, looking out for you. When you rent from the government: well, yeah: you get fucked in both ends. The only point of owning land, these days, is if you plan to turn it in to passive income.
