Unpopular opinion: they deserved this. They willingly lived in New York. A lot of them voted Democrat. They could have left NY, but didnt. I know people in New York and I've repeatedly told them to leave for a state with some flipping freedom, but they dont. You can only warn people so many times before the consequences of staying in a Democrat state become deserved.

What if they grew up there? Maybe that's where their family is? Or that's where all the memories are? Maybe remember a better time and want that back? What if you never voted for any of that shit and just wanted to live safely and comfortably in your home?

They could leave. Staying in NY is no different than staying in a house that's on fire, just slower. "Muy memories", "muy nostalgia", and "muy family" arent an argument, they're an excuse for suicidal behavior.
