There is a good reason our ancestors buried their dead instead of using them as fertilizer, and it has nothing to do with sentimental value. Dead bodies carry diseases, including prion-based diseases. Can you be sure they won't find their way onto your kitchen table?

All soil contains some amount of broken down dead animals. It takes time, but eventually it just becomes soil

There is a difference. Animals don't carry human diseases.
