I say buy a Ruger Mini-14 .223 Remington model. The barrel can handle both .223 and 5.56.

No, I'd say go for the wood furniture. It makes it look "less scary" to the liberals so they won't call it an AR Assault Rifle Fully Semi-Automatic no-no gun.

I have an AR and it handles both just the same. Ruger mini 14 look amazing and are easier to aim with, but a LOT harder to clean and a LOT more expensive in the long run.

But it doesn't "look scary"

Specifically get the 5.56 model if that's what you're going for. The old ones are chambered for .223 only.

Only the Ruger Mini-14 Target will only accept .223.

All other variants accept both, with varying accuracy.

And the Mini-Thirty will take Russian AK47 ammunition.

I could be wrong, it's been a while since I read up on them. But I'm almost certain that the older "pencil" barrels are only chambered in .223.
