"While health ministries represent themselves as an insurance alternative, there is no guarantee that they will cover the health expenses of their members," Mayo said in a statement.
Horse manure. This pisses me off.
My friend got cancer, required an unusual and complicated surgery. My friend elected to travel to Mayo for the surgery given all involved and not finding a local Doctor that could/would do it. My friend had BOTH regular insurance and health care sharing ministry membership.
Regular insurance left my friend out to dry. They said they would cover it over the phone before the surgery, then denied the coverage due to 'out of network', etc. after the fact. My friend failed to get the guarantee in writing. Only alternative was a lawsuit against the insurance company, which is painful and expensive.
Fortunately, my friend had a health care sharing ministry membership which happily covered the bill.
