All pistols are semi automatic except a handful of single shot derringers and some oddball bolt action pistols. Most revolvers are also semi automatic because they are dual action, not the old single action you see in the cowboy movies. People shot with non-semi automatic pistols in the US are pretty much nonexistent if you look at the statistics.

A very good point, when is the last time you heard, "the suspect was using a double action revolver". Reporters wouldn't even know what that is.
