What is magic but ability or advancement past the comprehension of the observer? When you have an IQ short of room temperature society might as well be magic.
Problem is they have forgotten the price the wizards must pay to keep up the illusion and they go unappreciated or even become resented. As the wizards give up the craft and fade from the world, so will their magic. With nobody to pay the price in blood and sweat and effort the whole thing will collapse upon itself and the dazed peasants will sit in ruined towers and tell stories of a mystical age of peace and prosperity lost to time.

1/You need to look at a 10,000 timeline minimum. 2/In the last 2000 years we have seen the white population surge and fade in both Europe and North America. It is like the rising and falling of the tide. The tide came into India from the north, then receded, Egypt, Ethiopia, white mummies found in chinese pyramids, ect. 3/"it can't be survived-stop being such a coward"-that's a heck of a world view to guide you day to day life.
