It's how you get hysterical fuckwits and leftists in general, but it's also how you get people pushing kooky shit to muddy the waters on legitimate discussion, so then the media or other "authorities" can then use it as ammunition to delegitimise or dismiss things that are legitimate, or the people who are having discussions on such things. A good example of that was when they peddled the whole "Trump says to inject disinfectant" narrative - it was designed to delegitimise proven treatments (but those not "approved" by the fuckwit media) for corona.
