Almost all the currency of USD is already digital and only exists as numbers on a screen and banks already use distributed ledgers.
How is this different in any way?
Just more opportunity for them to rob the country of it's wealth.
Give me a few billion so I can buy up everyones stuff in exchange for nothing like they do and I'll support it.
We've already seen how payment processors and banks have targeted their political opposition and the DOJ refused to prosecute them for violating common carrier law.
If they stop the use of cash, it's the same as putting a noose around your neck. That's a red line.
For years, they've been claiming that they AREN'T doing this. Over and over, until it's old news and a conspiracy theory. And now that they come out and say they are doing it, "Oh, it's ALWAYS been this way!".
Don't fall for it.
From 1970 until today, we've had the petrodollar, where the dollar is function of the energy inherent in petroleum. Now, the dollar is a function of the inherent energy consumption of generating, transferring, and storing information.
How is this different in any way?
They will switch everyone to this entirely. Then they can cut you off at the touch of a button. At least with paper cash you can spend it if you hold it.
I wonder if that means someone can cut them off with a touch of a button too.
The difference is there are still cash instruments (dollars) that have no interest component. They are desperate to remove that because if interest goes negative, people will take money out of the bank and hoard it like toilet paper. I'll let your imagination take over now.
