I don't think I've ever heard of someone in the US being convicted of similar. Have you?
Of the first sorta, of the second internet shit where I'm not sure if it is true and I don't remember conviction. Beside the guy who got 15 years for stealing and burning a rainbow flag.
I don't think they can construe a written insult as an exception to the first amendment. None seem to apply. I'm not happy, to put it mildly, about the US Justice system, but it has a better respect for free speech than Europe and most other places I can think of.
I agree with you but these are bad times right now.
