So we've finally devolved to North Korea status where store shelves are empty except with state run newspapers that talk endlessly about the abundance of food. Cool.

Don't forget the celebrity rag magazines. Those'll be stocked fully- gotta keep the public up to date on which actor is fucking around on his wife with another actress or w/e extremely important information these publications provide.

You must not have lived in Texas during hurricane Harvey so let me tell you a little story.

After the hurricane a few refineries were offline which is understandable. From my recollection it wasn't supposed to be all that long until they got everything up and running but in the meantime there were a bunch of news reports about how the refineries were out. People panicked so bad because they thought they weren't going to be able to get gas and they ended up creating a shortage because everyone was panick buying.

People were literally buying 50 gallon trash cans and filling them up with gasoline. Local Facebook groups full of posts asking which gas stations had gas and if they spotted a gas truck delivering to one. A buddy of mine hauls gas for a living and he said people were hugging him when he came to the gas stations to fill them up.

I have a firm belief that had the media not blown it out of proportion and people had continued to drive and buy gas as they normally would we probably wouldn't have seen such a large disruption.

So yeah I'm not surprised that they are trying to downplay it because if people whip themselves into a frenzy there will be real problems. It's the same story with toilet paper last year.

Same with the runs on the grocery stores when the illegal house arrests started over a year ago.

This whole thing stinks of an agenda pushing psyop.

The Biden administration is punishing the red states without covid restrictions. Look at the Texas electricity crisis that happened earlier this year right after Biden took office. And they put the blame on Russian hackers for that as well.

Saw it for myself today. Doing a 550 mile road trip in Appalachia. Went to a dozen gas stations before I found one with gas. I was starting to wonder if we would get stuck. There is now just enough gas in my tank to make it home.

You’ll know their takeover is complete when you can read or see no news that reflects the reality you see around you.

So far, nothing like that here. I had a rental truck to haul some parts today and got gas without any major hassle. Price is up a bit, bit no more than this time of year when summer coming.

So glad I'm outta here really soon, splash day is less than 45 days away.

tell that to the two closest gas stations near me that have no gas. highway 54 between burlington and chapel hill

Guess the NYT missed the Governor of North Carolina declaring a state of emergency over gasoline shortage issues ON MAY 10th...

I'm going to put it on Voat, good find. https://www.voat.xyz/viewpost.php?postid=609ad5b092a17

Wait, I thought Voat shut down

[–] 2 pts

It did. The original voat.co is gone, but a few goats set about making the replacement voat.xyz

It's alright. It's never going to be the same because goats have been scattered to the winds, so the content on the platform won't be as good and there won't be as much.. but it looks like Voat.

My biggest complaint: the new voat runs well. It's not Voat if it isn't down for at least 3 hours per day.

Thanks, I'll have to check it out
