South and Southeast coast is supplied by the Colonial Pipeline. Interesting information on this site of the lines and owners of this Pipeline. Koch. South Korea. Shell. Feeling it in the south already, prices are up and gas stations have lines and running out of gas. Just the beginning....? Of note, this company supplies aviation jet fuel.

Colonial turned off the pipeline. The Ransomware was on their business unit network. Not the pipeline network. They shut down the pipeline as a "precaution". Where is DHS to get them to turn it back on? This seems intentional.

They fired all the dudes who would drive around in trucks and manhandle giant valves all day and hired a room full of shaniquas to sit in an air conditioned control room and press a button while opening phishing emails on the scada systems.

Agree. I posted also, the EPA shutting down the distro center of gas/oil in panhandle of FL supposedly 1 May but didn't affect until yesterday? All too coincidental.

Where are the people to manually run the network?

This is the question. Why stop movement of gas/oil because their "internet side" of the business is shut down? I have a hard time believing there is not a back up plan to a computer issue.

I just realized, why should gas prices go up outside the affected region? If anything, they should go down due to increased supply.

Agree, but this administration is trying to manipulate businesses/economy and do not understand how to run businesses. It is so obvious, they are behind this, as none of them have done anything but government jobs. The prices go up where there is lack of supply/gas because of price gouging. Southern states see this a lot during the hurricane season but it was reported all day yesterday. Over $5.00/gal but unverified.

The idea of price gouging is something pushed by government and its allies.

Addionally, with this "crunch" another pass through expense for lumber. OH, and everything else.

When people can't get to work anymore - "Oh, your job must not be essential - can't you just do it remotely?"

Another pandemic, but in the form of a gas shortage? But they might be able to substantiate paying unemployment to the masses if we have no gas, right?

Another interesting twist to this; which lends to an intentional shut down, the Colonial pipeline does not supply the gas to areas of the panhandle of FL. Being in the close proximity of the Gulf, the counties close to the Alabama border are supplied from another source. Yet, they are without gas as well. Seems, the EPA went in and shut down the distribution center (for gas) and it coincided with this hacking. From news reports, the distribution center was to meet an annual requirement by 1 May and did not.
