Rule of Law exists only as long as people in society accept and recognize the: rules of law and the role of officers set to enforce those same rules. As society breaks down, that implied permission is more and more degraded. What we are seeing now is more and more degradation of not only belief in Rule of Law, but more and more outright hostility to those set to enforce RoL.
