The islanders get a kick on ripping the cattle off as much as possible. For example- going to get free conch shells from where the commercial guys dump them and selling them to the cattle for $40 each, or selling mini bottles of “island “rum for $20 - which they went and bought cheap assed rock gut rum and repackaged it to resell at a 1000% markup... Damned near every restaurant/bar/attraction has a locals price and a tourist price. Spending time on a few of the islands while working gives you an interesting perspective of how ridiculous 90% of the idiots coming off cruise ships really are. Walking caricatures. One nice thing about being a tourist on many of the islands is that you can get away with damned near anything. The local governments don’t want to be seen as harassing them unnecessarily. Rent a car and can drive around completely hammered...drugs, hookers, etc...
