"Well as a Colombian I can confirm it is true. There are still other reasons for protests, mostly related with the deep inequality we have, but there are tons of fake news from both sides. Honoring the truth, most of riots and lootings are promoted by guerrillas, druglords and far-left political leaders; for example, yesterday they trapped 15 police officers in a station and burnt it with them inside.
But in the other side, there are reports of abuses, mostly done by other criminal far-right groups, and desperate force members. I cannot say that there are official orders from the government to attack "innocent civilians" because I don't have any evidence to supoort that. The only thing that its clear is that the force was deployed to counterfeit the violence that these protests are carrying on, specially to protect infrastructure and supply routes.
For today most of the protests have been peaceful, I really hope it keeps going like that, thanks for your interest on learning context."
