Sensationalist headline designed to envoke the idea of class disparities. I honestly do miss the days of corporal punishment in the home and school. My mouth tasted soap and my bottom felt the sting of beatings from teachers more times than I can remember but we learned to take ownership for our wrongdoings and show respect to our elders instead of the mouthy profanity ridden excuses that emanate from children and parents alike for behaviours that eventually bloom into the criminality that plagues our inner-cities and leads to high incarceration rates and death by police officers closely associated with 13% of Americans today.
STOP IT! You are melting the snowflakes.
Sure. I have no problem with a little bit of corporal punishment with my kids - as long as I or my wife are giving out the punishment.
But if any “school administrator” ever touched one of my kids in any sort of a harmful way - for whatever reason - it would be the very last thing he or she consciously did for a long time.
No benefit of the doubt for the Adults in the room? Huh. I always told my boys, if the school calls you're guilty until proven innocent. Never had one single problem that wasn't someone else's fault.
Lol yeah no.
If I got my ass beat with a paddle, id give even less of a fuck about coping societies rules than I already do.
Idk why abuse makes some people toe the line, but for some it comes back in an ugly way and you wouldn't wanna be the one who was doing the paddling.
People should be suspicious of authority, nonetheless, a first-name relationship with teachers powerless to correct the wayward or raise expectations has, in my opinion, created an undisciplined society, and a teacher class that cares little for their product and too much for the benefits of their union. It takes a village to raise a child.
Yeah the schools are fucked and we should go back to raising kids in small communities
But this teacher is fucked, slapping the shit out of a kid with a paddle
If you are sending your kids to a private school, fine. But in a public school, you have state authority to deal with that can exceed that of the parent's.
During those days, the elders and particularly the teachers exercised their "right" according to their whim without being held accountable for their actions. Too often they did it just because they could.
