I'm guilty but I'm drinking more water and less soda. It takes time to change bad habits. doesn't happen overnight.

I grew up drinking soda. I had never drank water my entire life until I lived on my own and went to college in the desert. I was terribly addicted to it, and I would periodically do a water fast, think it tasted disgusting after, but drink it anyway because it soothed my throat (I have allergies and nothing soothes an itchy throat like an ice cold soda).

Anyway, I've wanted to stop for a while but was never serious about it until this woke crap started. I kept telling myself I'm supporting the enemy in poisoning myself. Every time I took a sip, I forced myself to think about how harmful it was to the body, how I wouldn't let my children or pets drink it, yet I'm drinking it. Then I added prayer.

I haven't had a drop of the stuff since January or February. I know I'll never drink it again.

Just thought I'd offer you what worked for me.

I usually drink about 6 sodas a day (diet) but I have replaced 3 of them with water. change takes time but I'm working on it. dinner just doesn't taste as good with water. not yet anyway.

I suggested this in the thread a bit higher:

If you're that starved for flavours or don't like the taste of water, buy actual fruit, cut them into pieces and place them in the water you're drinking. It works best with lemons and limes, but you can do it with pretty much any fruit that has juice inside (to varying degrees of success).

Drink a carbonated water with flavor, it'll taste better than soda.
