Facebook has clearly stated that the purpose of this video is only to confirm the identity of the account creator. Moreover, the video will neither appear on the concerned user’s profile nor be saved by Facebook itself. It will be deleted after the completion of the verification process.

If Facebook doesn't save the video as they claim, how could this prevent multiple accounts? What would stop someone from submitting the same video for each account?

They won't save the video, that'll take up far too much space. They'll save your biometrics like the distance between eyes, mouth, nose etc.

Thank god every one wears masks now. They want facial recognition data so that they can pick people out of background photos and security footage.

That is an advantage, on the other hand it makes it much easier for them to mount deniable psyops.
