Unlike 2017 it has actually been a more measured rise with temporary retractions but a steady and less parabolic climb. I suspect this is the influence of the more professionally managed corporate cash reserves that are now being partially held in bitcoin by many major corporations. It is not the flood of average people mortgaging their homes to get rich and thus the price is able to sustain during profit taking periods.
That's my guess.
