After a career of being closely associated with the air traffic control system, I can confidently opine that female pilots should be near the bottom on anyone's list of safety concerns. Closer to the top of that list? Affirmative action.

Affirmative action has eroded the efficacy of the air traffic control system to an alarming degree. The air traffic controllers' strike in the summer of 1981 was a crisis that the social engineers did not let go to waste. They replaced the PATCO workforce with many of the liberal left's favorites. Let's just say their favorites do not include straight, white, competent, experienced males. However, some level of competence still must be added to the mix; the nature of air traffic control demands it. When flying tubes of flesh and jet fuel are hurtling hither and yon at breakneck speeds, someone has to break the ties. We can't have controllers doing a "bang-up" job.

We should be afraid of affirmative action in society: education, medicine, engineering, etc. I have family in health care and what I hear is staggering about affirmative action. I go to doctor offices judiciously.

You are absolutely correct. Lowering the standards to attain a position - any position - just causes unqualified people to fill them.

I hire people now. A college degree means nothing anymore. I screen people by giving a test that requires abstract thinking ability. Most people that have an attractive resume can not do the test adequately. However, it prevents me from having problems later.

Same here. I used resumes to give me an idea of what to expect but asked very specific questions during interviews.

I had a female Paki 'doctor' tell me that a bump on my face was caused by my having 'issues' with a male member of my family. If I resolved the problem, the bump would go away. So I went to a plastic surgeon, and he cut it off. I reported the 'doctor', but nothing ever happened.

I can tolerate a nigger doctor for a consultation because often enough I can talk them into just giving me the drug I want. But that's because I do my own research and I don't rely on their half-assed reading of a test.

Would be much easier to have a white doctor I could trust so I could spend less time being my own doctor.

Blacks are capable of following procedures. They simply are not good at making decisions where they must use their previous knowledge to make a decision that isn't written down.

Reminds of the story they covered up in the navy where two female captains didn't communicate because they were pissed at each other and ended up crashing into each other.

Anyone other than white males are placed for anything other than merit and competency. Women are a terror as much as any other group of non-white males.

The fact that all of these groups wash out of training, except largely, white males, demonstrates the dangers created both in the cockpit and out.

It's important to remember, flying and ATC are relatively simple until heavy traffic or emergencies arise. In other words, when you require the most qualified for survival, they will be absent.

It's true. Anecdotal story: A month or so ago I was out on the back of the property with the tractor, and one of our neighbors came up to the fence. Old woman, probably late 70's maybe even 80's. Old school horse woman. Tough as nails and crazy as a sack of cats. She had with her a guy who is boarding a horse with her. She wanted to know about my tractor, because she was thinking of getting a new one- she currently has an old 50's era Ford gasser. Basic three point, all mechanical and gear, no lift bucket. We start to talking about my unit that I have had for a few years now- Kioti, diesel, all hydro. Bucket, etc. I was saying that the unit is great, but the one thing I regret was that I got a full hydrostatic drive one instead of a gear drive. The horse boarder- tough looking guy, maybe in his early 30's says "I would go for the Hydrostatic, I CAN'T DRIVE A STICK". The old woman looked at him and busted out laughing. Kek. Horse guy that can't drive a stick.

Here's one for you. I get a call from my then 16-year-old niece asking me if I would teach her how to drive stick. I said, "I'll be there in 45 minutes. Does that work for you?"

My brother raised her right.

What a faggot. I never had a chance to learn a stick until I was 30 when I bought an old truck, literally takes half a day to get the hang of it.

I was one of two people that knew how to drive with a manual transmission when the principal asked for someone to drive our class homecoming float. This was in 1976. My wife and two sons know how as well since I taught them.

My wife drives a stick, too. I think the only one in my entire family who doesn't drive stick is one of my sisters-in-law, and I think it's just because she hasn't done so in a long time.
