What a guy. I wonder what caused him to be that way.

Some people are just born assholes. His dad was an asshole like that too. I worked for both of them at one time. They'd dock my pay for some of the most inane bullshit they could come up with. Like, I'd see I was low on gas, drive my truck to a filling station then head back to the shop to pick up a load. I'd just look at my gas gauge and see that if I picked up a load first, I ran a high chance of running out of fuel. Back then there were no cell phones so it would mean a long walk out in the country and maybe begging to use the phone at a farm house. So I got docked for driving a few extra miles out of my way. Another day I went out to pick up a load and the wind was so strong my hoist was all over the place. Even with my wife helping we couldn't control the hoist so we gave up and drove back to the shop. I was docked for the entire trip which was most of a day. Another time I was sent out for a load and the alternator failed. It completely ran the battery down before I fingered out what the damn problem was. I stopped at a gas station to call them for help and yep, you guessed it. I was told I was gold bricking and had my pay docked. Another day I was sent out with a truck, again with my wife, and they hadn't maintained the tires. I said something about the back tires being shit but they didn't want to listen. Tires are fine. So, coming back with my load two back tires failed on one side. I walked to a farmhouse and called for help. They tried to blame it on me somehow and told me I could just walk the 30 miles back to the shop. I was so pissed I got back to the truck and drove ten miles to a gas station and told them to charge it to the company on the company card. Just replace the smoking ruins of the back tires. Then the father came out and lost his mind screaming about how I'd better not have ruined the rims on their pile of shit truck. See, if they had come out, maybe it was just a hole in the one tire and we could have removed it, repaired it and saved the other back tire. But no, they want to be rude and play games, I can play too.

Apparently one of the adopted kids of that family had similar ideas because he deliberately torched a truck complete with it's load and claimed it was an accident. I examined the scene after the fire was put out and discovered evidence the fire had been deliberately set.

Shitty people have shitty things happen I guess. I left that same month and went to work for some other relatives. Not ideal but at least I didn't get docked for the most insane stuff.

That's really crazy, especially dealing with relatives. It's one thing gypping strangers, screwing over relatives is really short sighted.

The things that were going on with this relative were just mind bogglingly convoluted. I misstated his relation to me. He's a second cousin, son of a Great Uncle. Another great uncle and his wife got divorced due to the problems this second cousin created in the business involvements. So, in the settlement the divorcing great uncle settled by splitting up his business and awarding half to his wife who then turned it over to her daughter. This asshole went after the assets anyway and ended up getting most of the stuff by illegal means. The daughter ended up not only fighting him in court over lawsuits he set up but he also sent others after her. It didn't even end when he died of a heart attack because those he sent after her continued making outrageous claims in court. Thousands and thousands were wasted on attorneys. At her father's funeral, (suspicious accident that the asshole was intimately involved with) this fucker sent a stranger to serve yet another lawsuit. Yes. You've got that right. The daughter was served papers for the new lawsuit at the funeral. I was there.

One friend of the family confronted this asshole at the funeral and almost started a loud row which I stepped in and stopped, telling the person, "Hey, it's a funeral, we leave our personal conflicts outside. Right now, let's have a moment of peace and just do the funeral." So, right after the service the daughter is looking very upset and agitated so I go to her and ask her what's wrong and she tells me that this stranger who no one knew had walked up to her and served her papers the minute before. So the fucker brought his guy to the funeral to serve papers on the daughter. In a just world there should have been a second funeral a couple days later.

Man, imagine being the lawyer/process server who agreed to that. I wonder if he knew he was being brought to a funeral.

The only bright side is that people like that are their own punishment. As time goes on he'll only grow more isolated and alone.
