In fairness, it's pretty normal to have one physician perform an autopsy then have other physicians act as expert witnesses based on the autopsy report.
Not every expert witness needs to have personally performed an individual autopsy.

If they're being paid or asked to give an opinion a certain way then it's bullshit. Also, they can only give an opinion on the autopsy report, on whether it's accurate or not.

Are you sure? I was under the impression they could draw facts from it (and other things entered into evidence) and draw independent conclusions.
