Chief Herold identified the suspect as Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa of Arvada, a suburb of Denver about 20 miles from Boulder. Mr. Dougherty, the district attorney, said he had “lived most of his life in the United States.” Chief Herold said the suspect had been taken into custody with a leg injury but was in stable condition and was expected to be taken to jail later on Tuesday.
