The NYT could care less if it has to pay a few million out of its pocket to slander someone standing in their way. They have several billionaires who would divvy up a few schekles...
It's not the $ they're worried about, it's the discovery. That's when Project Veritas gets to force them to turn over all internal emails, memos, meeting minutes, text messages, etc. involving the case. Discovery is why many companies are so eager to settle.
