According to the link in the article 264 officers died in the line of duty in 2020 - more than half 145 by Covid, lmao, 44 by traffic vehicle accident , 48 by firearm homicide and 172 by other cases (including heart attack , medical emergency etc with 12 succumbing to injuries suffered during the 9/11 attacks - wtf , lol).
SO the take away for me is 48 died from gun violence throughout the entire nation in the course of a whole year while over 1000 plus citizens are shot dead every year, plus an estimated 40-50 dogs shot and killed per day according to non-profits that record pet deaths at the hands of law enforcement (nor including people shot by law enforcement who survived - maybe another 2000 -3000 est, and then those beaten or tazed to death).
