Sell one of those priceless works of art you keep in those thousands of storerooms. The Vatican is the largest real estate landlord in the World. This lie is even more outlandish than it is utterly preposterous.

They're also a sovereign country which might make it hard to get a judgement enforced against them. I think the dioceses operate as separate corps or something, so after the "local" goes bankrupt, it's hard to get anything.
