My evidence is that the PRC have always expanded until they meet resistance they can't overcome, and even then they've only backed down after taking a massive hit.
Currently they are taking over whole islands, mineral resoures and natural resources in the south china sea. If the US does not begin defending it's allies (such as Taiwan and the Philippines) then China will continue expanding until it begins taking actual US soil.
Things have gotten so bad I'd argue it's in US interests to ally with Vietnam as a check against Chinese expansion.

Maybe, but the headline is nonetheless true: China will eventually go to war with the US. Not sure they're right it'll be a declared war, but the only thing they've ever respected in the past has been armed opposition.
