They can probably create specialized proteins that signal your system to turn into a colossal faggot (not kidding). When you consider that the entirety of our body is a product of protein-based structures, the potential to create any kind of protein capable of doing anything is infinite.

Hell, if they wanted to have the population killed in an instant, what is to stop them from producing an infectious protein in the body? Also known as prions. We do not know how they come about, what we do know is prions are a death sentence.

That was the theory I had but how might they switch it on? What triggers the release of this harmful protein? Time? Booster vaccines?

Prions contaminate the environment. They'd never be able to go outside.
