The reason PR has been a protectorate is that if it were granted statehood, over half of its households would fall below the poverty line.

I would honestly not be 100% against this if we can break up California and let those Oregon counties join Idaho.
I'm not as opposed to Puerto Rico becoming a state as I am to DC becoming one. I'd also like to see California split into two or three states and Texas into five. Let's keep going and allow for to finally become a reality.
