That is an 18% increase from the previous year. I didnt check your numbers but if they hold true the average death count increase per year is 5% due to demographic factors. Briand is quoted in the johns hopkins newsletter as saying it is a 2.4 % increase if I remember. She may have been averaging a different time frame.
Demographic shift does not account for 18%. Covid does. That is a massive increase in the death rate. And covid didnt even start killing people till april.
