Don't carry your smartphone on your person when out in public. Keep it in the car or at home. Also, you could transform your smartphone into a dumbphone by removing apps and using it only for texting and phone calls. That or get a phone built around privacy and security. If concerned about intrusive video cams in public places, wear a full face mask and a hat (I actually never thought that would be an option, but now it is...).
