What do you make of Poal? I think I preferred voat as it was easier to pick up interesting research, but I haven't really looked around much

TBH I'm a little concerned about the chief mod (AOC). He's a lot more "hands on" than Putt, but the downside is that he does things like monitor downvotes and ban people who thanks are misusing them. Not sure I'm ok with that. He also banned linking to a major right wing website (American Rennaissance) on the basis that they were archiving articles. He argued that they were stealing them and monetising them.

Other than that the place seems to work ok.

The downvotes on Voat was just ruined by bots though and sites go to shit without some kind of moderation, voat never managed to get rid of its pedos

The forum situation is looking bad though, I recently wanted to look for an update on George Floyd and I had to go to Reddit to find them... :/

And the ideas about moving to blockchain forums will just make everything super niche and even more of a conspiracy bubble

I was talking to another goat about an idea he had for a forum structure where downvotes/upvotes don't affect everyone seeing a post, they affect what you see. So if you brigade a particular person it just means they'll never show up in your feed again. Seems like a good solution to me, everyone ends up as their own moderator.
