Walmart spokeswoman Delia Garcia told The Sacramento Bee, adding that the company has donated more than $500,000 to relief organizations.
That's their mistake.
They would have been much better off administrating their fund themselves. That 500k could go a long way to help clear their property or allow for its use in a safe manner. Signing a check to third party guarantees the money is less effective than if you allocated it yourself.
But when its wasted, it allows you to shuttle the blame onto someone else, while maintaining your brownie points for the donation....helping others, vs helping yourself with good PR.
