So that's how they think, that a stimulus payment just disappears unless some other thing is imposed on the recipient, and they expect anyone actually to trust the latter once linked that way.

In theory at least, the payment buys hold-out time to prevent an economic crash, and the treatment buys an end to the crisis. Mixing up those transactions so that the payment buys consent to the treatment calls into question whether the treatment would end the crisis, for surely that should be reason enough to take it.

It would be a shame if anyone noticed that, in practice, the payment is actually government dependency and the treatment is actually harmful gene therapy. Almost as if the plan is kill off anyone too poor to decline...
