I think that Facebook got started collecting everyone's data for free and then letter agencies established a bureau inside. I mean, why wouldn't they? Why would they start a company just to see if it sticks when they can infiltrate afterwards? Of course, there are venture capital firms with known associations with the C_A. I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook, et al have taken money from them at some point.
