I think the OP and yourself have a good point, considered this as well, that events unfolding may be due to the fact that this little 'animal farm' is being foreclosed on, ie: the bad math is coming home. The farmers and the livestock, both nervous.
So is the answer Bitcoin? Gold?
Ammo? Arable land?

It would be preferable to be a contented landowner, than the wage slave I was raised to be. When I was a kid, thought apartments were the coolest thing, now I fear dying with nothing at all being actually owned by me, and at my death, my kin.
Ok I have an answer now: we need to "Get our houses in order" and that includes deterring involvement with external malicious forces, such as, financial institutions and government overreach. Best I can do.
