If you want to sound a bit smarter it’s not ‘DNA editing’.
It is messenger RNA that tells your cells what types of proteins to make. It has no affect on your DNA.
With that said you should still be very concerned about this therapy being rushed. Complete insanity letting it be rolled out. The implications will be catastrophic.
While I agree with the above, the statement that it has no effect on DNA is currently in debate - and there are international journal articles peer reviewed discussing mRNA’s effect on DNA replication.
Anything I’ve read so far has vehemently denied this affecting DNA. Please share any info you have.
I’ll try and find it- if I don’t reply back assume I’m a liar. :) another friend asked for the same article. Will admit I haven’t read it completely in full. Publication date was Jan2020- but let me find the deets and come back. I too wish to have the full article.
Ps- one thing I haven’t heard was a discussion of replication errors and their implications. Crisper cas9 was hopefully the key to unlocking dna changes- but they’re finding that it’s not as simple as made out to be due to how the body uses it and replication errors. So there’s real hesitation due to these issues. But no one has address mRNA replication errors or ad-segments- if they happen, their rate, and possible adverse effects. They don’t wish to have those Convo’s they’d rather just say it’s perfect... and we know it is likely not perfect.
concerned about this therapy being rushed.
Oh, is mRNA treatment a new thing?
It is entirely novel. There has never been a marketed widely distributed product using an mRNA therapy.
The news gets around this by saying it’s been ‘in the works’ for years which is true. Not widely tested.
This was the perfect opportunity to blast it through.
entirely novel
mRNA therapies have been worked on and tested for thirty years. No, they’ve not been in as wide use ever as they are already. But ‘entirely novel’ is bull. How are we supposed to make scientific leaps if everyone is going to act like a bunch of pussies?
