"Public" education hasn't been good since school marms taught grammar and the bible and arithmetic however there have been places and times where education was what you made of it. School has entirely done away with that and constantly drags your kids down to the lowest common denominator. Many parents equate homeschooling now with online education and that isn't how you should be doing it. If you care about your kids, buy some decent books and invest yourself into it even a dummy can do it well. It doesn't have to look all that much like school/common education and it probably shouldn't. UNschooling is probably better than public schooling but it requires parents who do REAL shit (like farming, gardening, etc.). If you taught your kid to fish and run a snow blower safely, bought or made some multiplication flash cards, and sing plenty of songs they are MILES ahead. Your sister sucks but if she loves her kids that is already better than what they teach them at school...chances are she is a narcissitic shit head but public school won't change that. I would bet you don't know a single home schooling family (pre government lock downs).
